Labor Day Appeal: Moore/Alexander Expect to Be On a Dozen States Dear Friends and Colleagues: We are expecting to be on the presidential ballot in as many as a dozen states by Election Day. At least two of the states we are already on will be crucial battleground states (Ohio and Florida), where we could conceivably poll the difference between our major-party rivals in an extremely close race. Plus, we will be conducting "write-in" campaigns in an additional ten to fifteen states. We have already gained official ballot status in the states of Vermont, Colorado, New Jersey, Ohio and Iowa; and we expect to be certified in Florida, Louisiana and Tennessee later this week. Our presidential campaign also expects to successfully gain ballot access, if we can collect the necessary signatures, in the additional states of Wisconsin (2,000), Minnesota (2,000), Mississippi (1,000) and Louisiana (9 notarized electors in 7 congressional districts). The deadlines in those states take place over the next ten days. The clock is ticking and we desperately need your help. Wisconsin's deadline is this coming Tuesday at 5PM. We are assured of collecting at least 1,000 of the 2,000 signatures needed there, but we need to hire several more paid petitioners this holiday weekend to help put us over the top. Time is short and we need to know if we will have the money to cover their costs. This is an urgent appeal to you, for a generous donation, or, at least, a pledge to contribute in the coming weeks, to enable us to cover the petitioning expenses. The cost for Wisconsin and Minnesota alone is $6,000, plus we need an additional $2,000 by Tuesday. We have already raised $17,000 from close to 100 contributors and we have expended the entire amount on everything from state filing fees, lawyers fees, advertisements, buttons, travel, stationery, stamps, and overnight mail, as well as paid petitioners for Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I have not approached most of my contributors and friends since last autumn, shortly before winning the Socialist Party USA's presidential nomination at the party's national convention in St. Louis. This is a critically important moment in my campaign, one that will determine whether or not we can succeed in placing the Socialist Party's presidential ticket on the ballot in more states than at anytime since 1952. Contributions can be made through our website at www.votebrianmoore.com. Or, send me an e-mail at to indicate you will be making a donation via a check to the Brian Moore for President Committee, P.O. Box 5742, Spring Hill, Fl. 34611. Thank you. Remember, the Moore/Alexander campaign will provide a stark contrast to the McCain-Palin // Obama-Biden corporate-controlled duopoly, where there is minimal differences between the two major parties, whose candidates and parties are highly dependent on special interest funding. Granted, Stewart and I will not win this election, but we can affect the two major parties, the press and the public -- as Eugene V. Debs and the Socialist Party did in the early 1900's when they championed child labor laws, women's suffrage, a shorter work week, unemployment insurance, worker's compensation, collective bargaining, social security, and other progressive measures that most Americans now take for granted. A generous contribution of $1,000, $500, $250, or $100 from those who can afford it, is desperately needed and would be deeply appreciated. Remember, individuals can contribute $2,300 each or $4,600 per couple. And if you have given already, your second set of donations would be counted toward the general election campaign as opposed to the primary contests we were in. A contribution of $50 or $25 donation can make all the difference at this critical juncture and would be crucial in helping us pay for these petition services in the remaining four states! Any amount will help. Thank you very much. With gratitude and humility, Brian Brian Moore for President, Socialist, 2008 Brian Moore for President Committee, P.O.
